Cops Nab El Paso Man After Canutillo Carjacking, Roadside Gun Threats

A 36-year-old El Paso man is sitting in a New Mexico jail after authorities say he assaulted two women in Canutillo, stole a car, and then menaced other drivers on Vinton Avenue with a gun. Investigators later tracked him down to a home in Anthony, N.M., booked him into the Doña Ana County Detention Center, and he is now awaiting extradition to El Paso.

What deputies say

According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called Thursday to the 7000 block of Third Street for an assault in progress. There, they allege 36-year-old Miguel Rojero attacked a 33-year-old woman and her 17-year-old daughter before taking the mother’s vehicle. As reported by KVIA, deputies say the stolen car later crashed near the 400 block of Vinton Avenue……
