Community rallies to find stem cell donor for Benton man battling leukemia

BENTON, Ark. (KATV) — In Benton, the community is rallying to support Brian Tarvin, a 52-year-old husband, father, and grandfather, who has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

Doctors emphasize that time is critical for Tarvin, and his best chance at survival lies in finding a stem cell donor match. The process to become a potential donor is straightforward, involving a quick cheek swab, and for those selected, donating can be as simple as giving blood. Donors must be at least 18 years old and in good health.

“We just finished a second round of chemo and are getting ready to go in for a third bone marrow biopsy to see where our blast levels are,” said Denell Tarvin, Brian’s wife. “He is just a hard worker, a loving father, husband, very well respected in our community.”…
