(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A community-wide toy donation event took place on Saturday, Dec. 20, as Santa Drives hosted the event to support local children in need.
The Santa Drives vehicle, powered by Bob Penkhus Motor Company and customized by Spectrum Auto, was on site next to the Santa meet-and-greet area in the Chapel Hills Mall Main Square. The Santa Drives team collected toy donations and raised awareness for families who lack transportation to reach traditional toy drives.
“A lot of families here in town; it’s a big problem,” said Phillip Tapia, Executive Director, Santa Drives. “A lot of people can’t make it to your traditional toy drives, so I created Santa Drives, and we literally drive to families in need.”
Santa Drives focuses on delivering toys, clothing, and essential items directly to families’ homes to make sure no child is forgotten due to transportation or financial barriers…
