SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4) — Every year, on the Saturday before Christmas, the pathways of Tracy Aviary are illuminated by candles during their “Candle Night” event, as a way for the community to honor and pay tribute to loved ones who have passed.
On Saturday, Dec. 20, the Tracy Aviary Lightwalk event, which is known for its eight-acre holiday light display and festive atmosphere, took on a different purpose.
During the holiday season, Lightwalk typically lights up Tracy Aviary from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., but during Saturday’s special “Candle Night” event, all of the lights went dark for the last half-hour of the night, and hundreds of candles lit the pathways in their place.
Gabriel Cabal, events manager for Tracy Aviary, told ABC4 that “Each candle that is here is representing someone that we’ve lost.” Cabal added that violinists played during the last 30 minutes of the event as well…
