Landslide cuts water supply to Federal Correctional Institution in Sheridan

SHERIDAN, Oregon — Federal Correctional Institution Sheridan has been without running water since Friday after a landslide damaged the main water line feeding the prison, federal officials said Sunday.

The city of Sheridan’s water supply to the prison was interrupted Friday at approximately 7 a.m. when an off-site landslide damaged the main water line, a spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Prisons told KGW in an email.

Inmates have access to potable water, portable washing stations, hygiene kits including wipes and antibacterial sanitizer, and portable waste units, the spokesperson said…
