ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The shortest day of the year but bitterly cold temperatures didn’t stop hundreds of Anchorage residents from hitting the slopes Sunday.
Hilltop Ski Area’s annual Alaska Airlines Winter Solstice Celebration let skiers enjoy food trucks, a photo booth, Santa and his reindeer, along with a host of other diversions.
“We love this because it starts the beginning of gaining some light back, right?” Hilltop General Manager Trevor Bird said. “So, we figured we’d throw a celebration, we’ve done this for the last few years. We’ve got lots of people flowing through, even on a cold day.”…
