Beckham Family Drama: Cruz Sets the Record Straight on “Unfollow” Rumors

Rumors of a growing rift within the Beckham family have once again surfaced, with speculation swirling that Brooklyn Beckham is creating distance from his famous parents, Victoria and David Beckham. However, younger brother Cruz Beckham has stepped in to clarify recent reports, asserting that a supposed “unfollow” incident on Instagram was not what it seemed.

The Daily Mail recently ran a headline claiming, “David and Victoria Beckham UNFOLLOW estranged son Brooklyn, 26, as it’s revealed he’ll spend Christmas with wife Nicole Peltz’s billionaire parents amid family feud.” This report has since been updated after Cruz, 20, took to his Instagram stories on Saturday, December 20, to set the record straight.

“NOT TRUE My mum and dad would never unfollow their son.. Let’s get the facts right,” Cruz wrote in a since-expired story.

He further clarified, “They woke up blocked… as did I.” This suggests a technical glitch or an unexpected block rather than an intentional unfollow by the Beckham patriarch and matriarch.

USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for David, Victoria, and Brooklyn Beckham for comment on the unfolding situation.

This latest incident adds another chapter to the ongoing media speculation surrounding a rumored family feud that has persisted since Brooklyn Beckham, 26, married Nicola Peltz in April 2022. While Brooklyn has largely refrained from commenting directly, he subtly addressed the rumors in a September interview with the Daily Mail.

“There’s always going to be people saying negative things, but I have a very supportive wife,” Beckham said of Nicola Peltz Beckham. “Me and her, we just do our thing.

We just keep our heads down and work. And we’re happy.”

Since their wedding, the couple’s relationship with the rest of the Beckham clan has been under a microscope. Observers have noted their absence from various family functions and even speculated about alleged tensions with Brooklyn’s younger brother, Romeo.

In August, the couple revealed they had renewed their marital vows in a sentimental ceremony, three years after their initial Palm Beach, Florida, wedding. Notably absent from the photos of this vow renewal and wedding party were David, 50, and Victoria Beckham, 51.

This absence was particularly highlighted as it occurred just days after Victoria had shared European vacation photos featuring the rest of the family – David, Victoria, and Brooklyn’s siblings Cruz, Harper, and Romeo – enjoying time together. USA TODAY also sought comment from the Beckhams at that time.

Adding to the narrative, Brooklyn Beckham was conspicuously the only Beckham child not present at David Beckham’s knighting ceremony in November.

The ongoing saga continues to fuel public interest, with Cruz Beckham’s recent intervention providing a new twist to the narrative.
