Storm Center PM Update: Dry and Mild For Much of Next Week

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Despite a good amount of sunshine, it was a seasonably chilly day…especially East River with the breeze in place.

We’ll have a largely quiet night on our hands with partly to mostly clear skies. Where we have less cloud cover, temperatures will drop a little bit more due to the lack of insulation via cloud cover.

In fact, most of the upcoming five to seven days are going to be characterized by how much cloud cover is in place. Some may have more than others like Tuesday and Wednesday as examples, but we’ll remain mainly dry outside of a rather low-end isolated rain shower chance for a few locations here and there on Friday and even next Saturday.

Of course, that includes Christmas Eve and Christmas Day…both of which are trending above average by a good margin. We’ll have to watch the record books for both days as record highs will likely be in jeopardy for one or both days.

Temperatures do back off a little bit as we head into next weekend, but we’ll still be around ten or so degrees above average for this time of year. Though odds for above average temperatures are favored as we head into the New Year, we do want to keep an eye on the first few days of January…as cold air does attempt to reload to the northwest and make a move our way. Keep an eye out for updates.
