Birmingham looks to avoid repeat of another city’s $14 billion controversy

After watching the uproar caused by the recent approval of a $14 billion, 18-building hyperscale data center campus on 700 acres in Bessemer, Birmingham is considering taking preventive action against a similar turn of events.

The Birmingham City Council, at its most recent meeting on Dec. 16, set a public hearing on a potential moratorium on new data centers opening in the City of Birmingham.
