BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Dozens of families in Birmingham’s District 6 received toys Monday.
Birmingham City Councilor Crystal Smitherman partnered with Bounce Back Together and The Surge Project for the giveaway to help around 50 families. Smitherman said it is one way to lend a helping hand to families in need during the holiday season.

“It’s been a really hard time lately,” Smitherman said. “The economy has been so hard, and a lot of people just need help right now during this special time of the year, and these are two great organizations that are constantly loving on our community.”
