Blood bank, animal charity unite to honor Avery Chauncey

The Erie Community Blood Bank is partnering with Avery’s Paw-sitive Change for a special blood drive to honor the late Avery Chauncey, who passed away on Oct. 14, 2023. The initiative aims to collect both blood and pet food donations, supporting the community’s needs.

The Erie Community Blood Bank relies entirely on local donors to maintain a steady blood supply for dozens of hospitals across Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York Chauncey founded Avery’s Paw-sitive Change to support shelter dogs with food and care.

Avery’s Paw-sitive Change has teamed up with the blood bank this year for the first time since her passing. According to Megan Solensky, community relations specialist at the Erie Community Blood Bank, “the need that kinda helped Avery prolong her life and helped her quality of life during her treatment were those blood products. So that’s kinda what we’re here for but we also wanted to give back to her non-profit as well and so we are collecting pet food donations for her as well.”…
