Man arrested after head-on collision with Ky. police cruiser, citation says

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) – A Winchester man was arrested early Friday morning after driving the wrong way and crashing head-on into a Frankfort police cruiser.

According to court documents, Frankfort police were dispatched at 2:18 a.m. early Friday morning after reports of a blue Ford Explorer traveling in the wrong lane on Thornhill Bypass, passing other cars and placing them in danger of serious or life-threatening injuries.

Officers began searching for the vehicle on Wilkinson Boulevard near the Capital Plaza Hotel. An officer observed the vehicle traveling directly at him in his lane of travel and advised over radio that the vehicle was going to hit him head-on before a loud crash was broadcast over the police radio channel.

Arrest and investigation

Officers arrived on scene and made contact with Brandon Kyle Bailey, 30, of Winchester. According to his arrest citation, when Bailey was removed from the vehicle, officers detected the odor of alcohol from his person when he attempted to speak.
