Ten days after the first reported death at Delaney Hall, the federal immigrant detention center on the outskirts of Newark, a group of immigrant advocates, community leaders, family members of detainees and Lutheran pastors held a prayer vigil outside its walls.
The vigil on Dec. 22 was meant to draw attention to conditions inside and out of the facility.
Jean Wilson Brutus, a 41-year-old Haitian national who was detained at the facility, died there on Dec. 12, and was the first reported death at the facility since its opening.
