Man who allegedly planned Canyon July 4th attack back in jail

CANYON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Following a psychiatric evaluation, a Randall County man is back in jail after his legal counsel requested an opportunity to look over the evaluation with the defendant.

Kevin Hunt was court ordered in October to undergo a psychiatric evaluation for 30 days to determine competency after he was accused of planning an attack during a 4th of July parade in Canyon.

As was previously reported by Myhighplains.com, Hunt was indicted in federal court in September on a charge of alleged “attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction,” and indicted in Randall County in October on other charges of alleged possession of “components of explosives,” “attempted capital murder of multiple persons,” and “terrorism…
