Muñoz to lead Border Patrol’s El Paso Sector

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Jesse D. Muñoz, a 25-year veteran of the U.S. Border Patrol, is the new chief patrol agent of the El Paso Sector, Border Report has learned.

Muñoz will replace Anthony “Scott” Good, who recently returned to for a brief stint El Paso. Good is now head of the Del Rio Sector. Muñoz had been chief patrol agent of the Laredo Sector since August 2024.

He’s no stranger to the El Paso region. According to a bio on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website, Muñoz once served as the acting Deputy Chief Patrol Agent of the El Paso Sector.

He has been with the Border Patrol since 2000 and has held various leadership roles, including some at the agency’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.

He served as acting chief patrol agent and deputy chief patrol agent for the Laredo Sector. He was the acting deputy chief patrol agent for the Rio Grande Valley Sector. Muñoz was also the deputy chief patrol agent for the Special Operations Group; assistant chief of the Joint Operations Directorate; and patrol agent in charge of the National Border Patrol Search, Trauma and Rescue Unit (BORSTAR).

Before joining the Border Patrol, Muñoz served for eight years in the U.S. Army as a combat medic and vocational nurse. He deployed to Turkey and Iraq in 1991 with the 3rd Infantry Division…
