Clive man accused of driving wrong way on I-235, I-80 while drunk

DES MOINES, Iowa — A Clive man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly driving drunk and going the wrong way on Interstate 235 from downtown Des Moines to Interstate 80 in West Des Moines.

On Sunday at around 5:11 a.m., court records say a trooper with the Iowa State Patrol responded to a report of a wrong-way driver on I-235 near downtown Des Moines. Court records say that witnesses reported the driver was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes at a high rate of speed.

According to a criminal complaint, the trooper observed the vehicle, a red Ford truck, on I-80 near the 60th Street exit in West Des Moines and noted the vehicle was still going the wrong way on the interstate. The complaint states that when the trooper pulled up to the truck, it was parked in the median facing the wrong direction.

The trooper notes in the complaint that the driver, identified as 34-year-old Daniel Obed Zetino Reyes, had a strong odor of alcohol and that there was an open container of Modelo beer on the passenger side floor…
