DSM may add dozens more speed humps to residential streets

The Des Moines City Council will vote Monday on whether to add about 40 new speed humps across residential areas next year.

Why it matters: While speed humps are a proven way to slow cars and protect people in neighborhoods with chronic speeding complaints, they’re also a magnet for criticism from those who say they’re hard on vehicles, slow emergency responders and push speeding to other streets.
