‘He was just a beautiful person’ | Family grieves after Army veteran and UTSA student killed in crash on 1-10

SAN ANTONIO — The mother of a 26-year-old Army veteran and University of Texas at San Antonio student killed in a tragic accident on Interstate 10 last month says forgiveness has helped her cope with an unimaginable loss.

Darryll Owens was killed Nov. 5 after a single-vehicle crash on I-10, according to San Antonio police. Investigators said Owens’ car left the roadway and came to rest in a grassy area. Police said Owens exited the vehicle and attempted to cross the highway, where he was struck by an SUV. He died at the scene.

The driver remained on scene and cooperated fully with investigators. No criminal charges have been filed…
