Record-breaking temperatures to bring summer-like sun to Boulder County

Christmas is only three days away, but people in Boulder County’s eastern plains can break out their Hawaiian shirts and shorts, because Monday’s high is a record-breaking 72 degrees in Boulder and Longmont.

People in Boulder and Longmont will see highs of 72 on Monday, breaking the record set for Dec. 22 in 1933, when it was 71 degrees, according to Accuweather. Monday’s unusually high temperatures come alongside critical fire conditions in the eastern plains and a red flag warning in the county’s foothills.

The weather also comes just days after a three-day windstorm brought 100-plus mph gusts to the county, sparking fears of rapid fire spread. It won’t cool down much until Saturday, either, when the high is expected to drop below 50 degrees…
