A new exhibition – What the Tide Brought In: Shells and Specimens from the Permanent Collection – fills the Massillon Museum’s second-floor Judith Paquelet Gallery.

Massillonian Ellla O. Shoemaker (1857-1944), a women’s suffrage and education advocate and Burroughs Nature Club member, collected shells. When the Massillon Museum was rededicated in its previous location in 1938, there was a room devoted to displaying the shells. In the new exhibition, shells are accompanied by inventory cards from the original card catalog…
