CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — United Black Men of Charleston County held a press conference Monday evening in response to a deadly shooting that took the life of a 4-year-old last week.
The group called for community members to send tips to North Charleston Police as the investigation continues into the death of Merci Watson, who was shot while inside a car on Van Buren Avenue in North Charleston.
“A family permanently changed, and a community is once again grieving a loss that should never happen,” Thomas Ravenell of United Black Men of Charleston County said. “Again, this gathering is not about politics or blame, but about responsibility, unity, and the moral obligation to ensure that no other family endures this kind of loss.”…
