2024 Statistics Show Crime Dropped in Loudoun

The Virginia State Police on Thursday released statewide crime numbers for 2024. The data shows crime in Loudoun County dropped last year compared to 2023, with shoplifting being the biggest problem.

The crime rate, which is calculated as the number of crimes per 100,000 people, dropped in Leesburg from 5,956 in 2023 to 5,122 in 2024. The town continues to see significantly more crime than the rest of the county compared to the population.

The Sheriff’s Office reported slight drop from 2,338 to 2,062. Purcellville saw its rate drop from 2,151 to 2,039, and Middleburg stayed similar to 2023…
