LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin announced on Tuesday that Arkansas was one of the recipients in a multi-million-dollar settlement from an international manufacturer.
Griffin said the state is one of 50 attorneys general in the $149,673,750 settlement with Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC and Mercedes-Benz Group AG for violating state emissions laws.

From 2008 to 2016, officials said Mercedes equipped its diesel-powered cars and vans with software that would allow the cars to test within limits but, on the highway, allow higher-than-permitted nitrogen oxide emissions for a performance gain.
The settlement requires Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC and Mercedes-Benz Group AG to pay $120 million to the states immediately upon the effective date of the settlement, Griffin said.
