CORVALLIS, Ore. – A dramatic water rescue unfolded on the Willamette River early on Monday, according to the Corvallis Fire Department.
CFD officials said emergency personnel responded at about 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 22 to reports of a kayaker who overturned in the Booneville Channel area. The kayaker, stranded by high waters, clung to a tree and called 911 for help. The Corvallis Fire Department dispatched a rescue team, collaborating with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. BCSO officials used a drone and jet boat to locate the kayaker. A rescue swimmer from the fire department helped guide him to safety.
The kayaker was unharmed but cold. Medics warmed him onshore, and he didn’t require hospital transport…
