Hueytown 5th grader in hospital after flu diagnosis days before Christmas

Hueytown Intermediate 5th grader Jace Watkins is fighting for his life in the ICU at Children’s of Alabama after being diagnosed with the flu according to his aunt Sabrina Parsons. She said he got the flu. Then, he began having seizures and at one point stopped breathing. The community gathered at City Park to pray for his healing, with just two days to go until Christmas.

“He was feeling fine, until Saturday night when he just randomly had a seizure, and he couldn’t breathe. The ambulance came, and on the way to the ambulance, he stopped breathing for 15 minutes. When he got to Children’s, they said it wasn’t looking good for him. They didn’t know if he was going to make it,” she explained.

More than anything else, she wants to see her nephew go back to being himself…
