Suspect arrested in freeway shooting that left motorist wounded

More than a week after gunfire erupted on one of Riverside’s busiest freeways, investigators say they have arrested the man they believe pulled the trigger.

California Highway Patrol investigators took Maurice Orlando Stells Jr., 41, of Moreno Valley, into custody on Monday, Dec. 22 in connection with a freeway shooting that occurred Dec. 14 on the westbound 91 Freeway in the city of Riverside. Stells was arrested without incident in Moreno Valley and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center.

The shooting unfolded when the driver of a blue Chevrolet Camaro fired an unknown number of rounds at another vehicle traveling on the freeway, authorities said.
