San Francisco man convicted again in 2005 murders of father, 2-year-old

A San Francisco man has been convicted for the second time in the murder of a man and his 2-year-old son in a Potrero Hill attack 20 years ago.

The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office said Monday that a jury convicted Joseph Stevens, 42, of two counts of first-degree murder and assault with a firearm. Stevens opened fire on the man, his girlfriend and the man’s child on Oct. 14, 2005, when they arrived at a relative’s home at Turner Terrace. The girlfriend was injured but survived.

Stevens previously was convicted on the same charges in 2007. That conviction was overturned by federal district court in 2018. The second trial began this fall…
