Free Christmas feast in Roanoke provides hot meal to hundreds

ROANOKE Va. (WFXR) – The Rescue Mission of Roanoke is holding their annual free feast on Christmas day, providing lunch to over 500 individuals.

The feast will take place on Thursday, December 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 402 Fourth Street SE, Roanoke, Va 24013.

The mission will have prepared lunch for over 500 guests including:

  • Individuals and families staying in the Mission’s emergency shelter.
  • Neighbors who are unsheltered.
  • Community members who have housing but are facing food insecurity.
  • Anyone who would otherwise spend the holiday alone and wishes to share Christmas with others.

The feast will be a hot, traditional Christmas meal served two ways:

  • Dine-in: A warm, welcoming dining room experience with volunteers serving meals.
  • Curbside Drive-Thru: Convenient, ready-to-go hot meals for those who prefer or need to remain in their vehicles.

“Christmas reminds us that no one should feel forgotten,” said Lisa Thompson, Director of Development and Communications at the Rescue Mission of Roanoke. “At the Mission, there is always room at the table — for those seeking shelter, for those struggling, and for anyone who simply needs the warmth of a shared meal and fellowship.”…
