Community mourns loss of woman struck by car in Amherst

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — As neighbors mourn the loss of 70-year-old Cynthia Sitterle, those who interacted with her are talking about the impact she had on the community.

According to police, on Saturday, Sitterle was in the roadway on Kensington Avenue when she was struck by a driver. Sitterle was pronounced dead at the scene.

“I had heard that somebody got killed, an elderly female, and I hoped it wasn’t her,” said Susan Brzykcy, a longtime Cheektowaga resident. “When I found out it was, my heart broke just broke for her; it was sad.”…
