CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WJZY) — There are no string lights or wreaths on Troy and Molly Carroll’s home in Plaza Midwood. Instead, they have150 inflatables. A sloth, a saxophone-playing snowman, Bluey, Buddy the Elf, and even Snoopy on a Zamboni, all sit perched across the Carroll’s front lawn.
It began years ago as a competition between Troy and a few other dads, seeing who could ‘out-Griswold’ the others. After a few years, Troy’s dedication to decorating caused his competitors to tap out.
They continue the tradition because they know it means a lot to visitors that come to see it every year. But the inspiration came from Molly’s mother, Maggie, who loved Christmas. So, the core of their display comes from the heart-felt holiday memories that their yard creates…
