Columbus gas prices drop significantly, reaching five-year lows

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Gasoline prices in Columbus have plummeted by 33.7 cents per gallon over the past week, now averaging $2.52 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 500 stations in the area. This marks a 37.9-cent decrease from last month and a 67.8-cent drop from the same time last year.

The national average for gasoline has also decreased by 5.7 cents, now standing at $2.79 per gallon.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted, “For a fourth straight week, the national average price of gasoline has declined, as conditions remain ripe for some of the lowest seasonal gas prices in five years.” He attributed the drop to increased oil production in the U.S., Canada, and OPEC+, along with high refinery output…
