Summit Township has installed new signage along Peach Street to discourage panhandling, following increased complaints from residents and motorists about the issue affecting traffic flow.
The signs, which were placed approximately six weeks ago, address concerns raised by the community regarding panhandlers obstructing traffic and creating hazardous conditions. Peach Street experiences an average of 40,000 vehicles daily, making it crucial for officials to maintain smooth traffic movement at various intersections.
Residents have noted a rise in panhandling as the holiday shopping season approaches. Devon Brink, a holiday shopper, commented, “Unfortunately, yes, I have seen a lot more. Especially after COVID, I think we’ve seen a lot more people that have been struggling.”…
