TAMPA, Fla. (NewsNation) — A consumer-level joint pain supplement has been recalled due to high levels of lead, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration announced Monday.
Handelnine Global Limited, doing business as Navafresh, has recalled two lots of its Rheumacare capsules after FDA testing revealed “higher than permissible levels” of lead were found in the product.

The recalled lots include CAM040 & CALO79-N. The product was distributed to consumers nationwide through www.navafresh.com.
“Sustained exposure of elevated levels of lead poses increased potential toxicological risks to consumers to include cognitive impairment, depression, nausea and abdominal pain, motor incoordination, and peripheral neuropathy (loss of muscle control),” according to the FDA.
The FDA previously sent a warning letter to Handelnine in November, stating that several of the company’s products are classified as “unapproved new drugs.”Rheumacare Capsules were included in the initial warning “because the presence of lead in the amounts identified by the FDA raises significant safety concerns.”…
