Sunnyside On Edge As Search Intensifies For Missing 80-Year-Old With Dementia

Houston police are asking Sunnyside residents and the wider public to help track down 80-year-old Webb Jones, a man with dementia who has gone missing from the neighborhood. Jones was last seen around 8 p.m. Saturday on Briscoe Street near Bellfort Avenue and Coffee Street, wearing pajamas and a white T-shirt. He is described as a Black man, about 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing roughly 290 pounds. Family members and investigators say they are deeply worried about his safety because of his cognitive condition.

The Missing Persons Unit of the Houston Police Department handles adult cases involving cognitive impairment and coordinates the search effort for Jones. Investigators are urging anyone who might have seen him, even briefly, to contact police immediately so officers can focus on canvassing, checking hospitals, and reviewing possible transit routes.

The station reports that he was wearing pajamas and a white T-shirt when he disappeared and that he may be disoriented because of his dementia. Anyone with information is asked to call Houston Police at 713-884-3131 or the HPD Missing Persons Unit at 832-394-1840, as reported by FOX 26.

How To Help

If you believe you have seen Webb Jones, call Houston Police at 713-884-3131 or the HPD Missing Persons Unit at 832-394-1840, or dial 911 if he appears to be in immediate danger.
