WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Two Texas men are facing federal charges in connection with a scam that cost a Sedgwick County woman $255,000.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Kansas said Tuesday that Venkateswara Reddy Chagamreddy, 27, and Sai Praveen Kommana, 29, were indicted on one count each of wire fraud conspiracy and interference with commerce by threat.
The scam began in May when an 84-year-old woman was contacted by a man who claimed to be an FBI agent, informing her that her Social Security number had been stolen and was being used at various banks in a fraud scheme.
