WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — As many families consider welcoming a new pet during the holiday season, the Kansas Humane Society says the decision to adopt should be based on long term readiness rather than seasonal excitement.
With holiday emotions running high, the shelter emphasized one message above all: Pets should never be given as surprise gifts.
“We had a few times this year, somebody gives someone an animal as a gift, and that person doesn’t end up wanting it,” said Jordan Bani-Younes, spokesman for KHS.
