Police searching for suspect in hit-and-run crash injuring e-bike rider in west Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department is searching for a suspect it believes was involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a cyclist injured in November.

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Nov. 11, Austin Police officers responded to a crash between a white Volkswagen SUV and an e-bike rider in the intersection of Mesa Drive and Rockford Lane.

According to police, the victim was riding their e-bike on Mesa Drive when the car turned onto Rockford Lane, hitting the cyclist. The suspect vehicle left the scene without stopping or rendering aid. The bike rider suffered bodily injury, police said.

APD said the driver of the suspect vehicle is described as a white, medium build man with a red/auburn goatee that went down to his chest. Police noted the man has a “thick Southern accent.”…
