Carlos Centeno-Izaguirre, 45, has been sentenced to 50 years in the Department of Corrections after pleading guilty in August to distribution of fentanyl, resulting in the death of Tyson Baker, who was found deceased in his home in September 2023. Centeno-Izaguirre received 30 years for the death count and another 20 years for the drug distribution charges resulting in a total sentence of 50 years.
The Boulder County Drug Task Force was already investigating Centeno-Izaguirre in 2023 when Baker was found dead as a result of a fentanyl overdose. Detectives determined the defendant sold the illicit fentanyl pill that killed Baker based on electronic and DNA evidence. The task force found additional fentanyl pills, heroine, and cocaine in Centeno-Izaguirre’s residence after executing a judicially-approved search warrant.
“This sentence reflects the serious consequences of the defendant’s drug dealing, especially the tragic loss of Mr. Baker’s life,” District Attorney Michael Dougherty said. “In Boulder County, when a person dies from fentanyl, the Drug Task Force and our law enforcement partners launch an intensive investigation. Because of their efforts, our team was able to bring charges against this defendant and secure the just outcome.”…
