County Prepares as Kern River Valley Braces for Rain, Mudslides, and Mountain Snow

A multi-day storm system is expected to bring periods of rain, rising river flows, and mountain snow to the Kern River Valley through at least Friday, according to weather forecasts issued early this week.

The National Weather Service reports that rain chances increase Tuesday afternoon and remain likely through the end of the workweek. The most consistent rainfall is expected Wednesday through Friday, with valley totals generally ranging from about one-half inch to locally near one inch, based on current projections.
