CLEVELAND (WJW) — An East Cleveland police officer accused of unnecessarily ramming a suspect’s car then claiming a workplace injury saw most of his charges dismissed in a plea deal earlier this month and will avoid prison.
A Cuyahoga County grand jury in February handed up a 10-count indictment charging James Covell, 50, of Eastlake, with tampering with records and evidence, telecommunications and insurance fraud, dereliction of duty and obstructing justice, among others, according to a previous news release from county prosecutors.
