Raw oysters linked to ongoing Salmonella outbreak, at least 3 cases reported in SC

SOUTH CAROLINA (WCIV) — At least three cases of Salmonella have been reported in South Carolina potentially tied to an ongoing nationwide outbreak linked to raw oyster consumption, according to the CDC.

64 people across 22 states have reportedly gotten stick with the same strain of Salmonella, with twenty of those people hospitalized. Of the 27 people interviewed by state and local public health officials so far, 20 of them have reported eating raw oysters, according to the CDC.

No recall has been announced as of publication, and the CDC and FDA are investigating if a common source of oysters can be identified…
