FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Multiple viewers shared concerns about a temporary shelter area that is spilling into parts of the River Greenway Trail.
On Tuesday, viewers reached out to WANE 15, sending photos of an encampment that appears to have overflowed onto the River Greenway Trail beneath the Veterans Memorial Bridge, just north of downtown.
People began clearing the area at 7 a.m. Wednesday, and the Fort Wayne Police Department was made aware of the situation.
WANE 15 reached out to the city for a response, to which they stated, “Multiple city departments are actively checking on this situation and will respond accordingly. Protocols require a 72-hour notice to be posted at the site before an encampment cleanup can occur.”…
