Mental competency hearing for Moe’s Steakhouse stabbing suspect

MISSION BEACH, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A mental competency hearing will be held Wednesday afternoon for the suspect accused of stabbing a bartender at Moe’s Steakhouse in Mission Beach on Sept. 18.

Hector Manuel Vasquez II, 42, is scheduled to appear at the San Diego Central Courthouse at 1:30 p.m.

The hearing will determine if Vasquez, who walked into the restaurant on Mission Boulevard and reportedly stabbed a bartender who was eating lunch seven times, is mentally competent to stand trial…
