UAMS launches full tuition scholarships to retain top Arkansas talent

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has unveiled a new initiative, the Chancellor Scholars Program, offering 40 full tuition scholarships for incoming students in fall 2026.

This program aims to retain Arkansas’s brightest students by providing financial support to those pursuing healthcare careers within the state.

Interim Chancellor Dr. C. Lowry Barnes emphasized the importance of building a local workforce, stating, “It’s very important that we train our workforce and that we build our workforce in Arkansas, and we see this as a way to do that because these scholarships are for Arkansans and they’re for Arkansans who are going to practice in Arkansas.”…
