NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A Las Cruces man is facing federal firearm charges after threatening to shoot up a school on social media.
Case moves forward against man who shot trespassers outside his home in Albuquerque
According to court documents, on December 17, 2025 the FBI received an emergency disclosure from TikTok about a comment posted during a livestream. The commenter threatened to shoot up a school and kill children. Investigators were able to trace the threat to Dion Lee Torres, 25, of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Law enforcement responded to the residence and observed Torres smoking six marijuana joints in a small amount of time. It was also discovered that Torres possessed a firearm with additional magazines and ammunition.
Based on the threat of violence and the access to a firearm, law enforcement obtained an Extreme Risk Firearms Protection Order. They seized a loaded gun, three loaded magazines and ammunition, including armor piercing rounds. Torres was charged with possession of a firearm by a person who is an unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance.
