VANCOUVER, Wash. — The city of Vancouver has selected a new fire chief after a nationwide search.
Fire Chief John L. Drake II will step into the role later this month with 38 years of firefighting previously, having previously served as chief deputy of emergency operations and acting chief at the Los Angeles City Fire Department.
Drake will be succeeding former Fire Chief Brennan Blue who retired earlier this year. Blue, who also has 38 years of experience, was hired by Vancouver in 2020 after serving as a firefighter in central and southern California for 33 years…
