PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — New details have emerged in the case of a Cowlitz County man who allegedly killed someone and hid the body on his property.
The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office has identified the deceased victim as 71-year-old Dennis Eugene Schmitt on Wednesday.

As KOIN 6 News previously reported, 67-year-old Ricky Dean Miller was arrested Dec. 16 after admitting to a family member that he killed someone and hid the body in the 3600 block of Old Lewis River Road in Woodland, Wash.
During a search of the property, detectives found Schmitt’s body hidden inside a barrel. An autopsy revealed that he had suffered multiple blunt-force injuries to the head and had been strangled.
