Hiker rescued after falling at Valley of Fire northeast of Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Rescuers airlifted a hiker who fell at Valley of Fire on Monday, bringing the person out to an ambulance for transport to a hospital.

The hiker fell a short distance, resulting in head and leg injuries, according to information provided by Las Vegas Metro Search and Rescue. The hiker was not identified.

AIR1 was sent to Valley of Fire after park rangers and fire department personnel determined it would be too dangerous to bring the hiker out on foot because of hazardous terrain. AIR1 lowered a search and rescue officer and a Mountain Rescue volunteer to where the hiker was located in the mountains next to the Lone Rock Picnic Area.

AIR1 then lifted out the hiker and the two rescuers. The hiker’s condition was not disclosed.
