Akron Public Schools is proud to announce a major achievement by its Computer Science program. Under the leadership of instructor Sam Appleby, a team of APS students earned both First Place and Third Place honors in the 2025 Congressional App Challenge for Ohio’s 13th Congressional District, hosted by U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes.
The Congressional App Challenge is a highly competitive national competition that encourages middle and high school students to learn computer science and create original applications to address real world problems. Earning two top placements in the same district highlights both the strength of instruction and the creativity and skill of APS students.
