The Kern County Fire Department has issued an alert to residents near the Borel Fire burn scar areas due to a flood threat. The Borel Fire, which burned through the area over a year ago, continues to impact the region, especially during rainstorms.
Jeremy Ruiz, an engineer with Kern County Fire, noted that significant vegetation growth has occurred since the fire, which helps stabilize the soil. However, he cautioned that the area is not entirely free from flood or mudslide risks.
